"Ailanthus altissima (tree of heaven), Simaroubaceae, is an early successional tree, native to China and North Vietnam, which has become invasive in Europe and on all other continents except Antarctica. It is most abundant in urban habitats and along transportation corridors, but can also invade natural habitats."

Kowarik I., (2007), “Biological flora of Central Europe: Ailanthus altissima (Mill.) Swingle”, Perspectives in Plant Ecology, Evolution and Systematics 8 (2007) 207–237

"The ability to capture the greatest number of situations for a single species gives us a better idea of the potential of each one to become a determining and influential element in a landscape project.“

(Teresa Gali-Izard, The Same Landscapes: Ideas and Interpretations, 2005. p239)

ailanthus is running its own landscape project as a strongly 'invasive', 'alien' species.

phenomenology

Phenomenology takes the intuitive experience of phenomena (what presents itself to us in phenomenological reflexion) as its starting point and tries to extract from it the essential features of experiences and the essence of what we experience.
Edmund Husserl
